Flameless Candles

Flameless Candles

Last year, 15,000 fires were started by traditional wax candles.

Isn't that a good reason to consider flameless candles?

Yes, there really is such a thing as a candle with no flare. These candles don't need a match to light them, they're electric and/or battery operated.

Today's manufacturers have been very creative in the past several years, and developed a wax candle (yes, a real wax candle!) that looks and feels like a traditional candle. These candles quiver just like there is a real flare inside - but they are completely worry-free.

This new technology uses special LED lights. The lights can be located at the top of a taper candle (like the kind of candles used for a "candlelight" dinner) or at the top of votive candles, or they can be slightly recessed in a pillar candle so that they look like the wick has baked down a bit. Wicks may even be darkened to look like they've been lit and baked down.

Flameless candles come with or without fragrances, so you don't have to give up anything from traditional candles.

A lot of restaurant owners are turning to flameless candles since they are much safer than the old wax candles. Ever been to dinner at a nice place, and noticed that junior at the next table was playing with the lit candle? Did it make you shiver? This eliminates the danger from accidental (or not!) fires. The ability to recharge candle batteries is also a strong selling point.

You can get flameless candles in a number of styles, colors and scents. Tapers are useable as well as pillars, votives, tealights and holiday varieties. Another nice feature is that timers are useable. You can set your candles to start at a certain time and light for a specific number of hours, then turn themselves off and reset to start again at the same time tomorrow.

For example, you might want your candle to light at 6 pm, remain lit for four hours then turn off. It will then reset itself to light the following day at 6 pm.

This allows you to enjoy your candles without fear of forgetting about them. You can have the joys of candle fragrance and beauty without the danger of a flare in the house.

What will they think of next?!?
